“Don’t Hide your physically challenged children, they must be identified in the society, loved by all, and helped. They are unique and have great potentials hidden in them. The little help we offer as a people could go a long way to make them self sufficient in future”
These were the words of the Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North Constituency who doubles as the Deputy Minister of Education in-charge of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), Honourable Gifty Twum-Ampofo popularly called Hajia Kande, as she donates a brand new HP laptop to Master Emmanuel Debrah, an autistic child, schooling at Ofori Panin Special School, Akyem Kukurantumi in the Eastern Region of Ghana, on 15th October 2021, at the Akyem New-Tafo Presbyterian Church Hall, during the Abuakwa North Municipal Science And Maths Quiz finals.
She explained that regular visits by her revealed a lot for her to do as far as the Special School is concerned.
“I have been paying regular visits to the school to supply them with toiletries and other needs. I again noticed that Emmanuel being intelligent can’t write due to his state but can rather punch. So I decided to get him the laptop to make his learning easier.” Honorable Gifty Twum-Ampofo said.
Hajia Kande further, admonished all parents with physically challenged children in the Constituency to enroll them at Ofori Panin Special School.
The father of the beneficiary, Mr. Kwasi Lamptey Debrah, who could not hide his emotions with tears, thanked the Almighty God who blessed him with Emmanuel and showered a lot of blessings on the astute member of parliament for such a heart-touching gesture.
He promised to take good care of the laptop and help Emmanuel to use it for the purpose of which it was given.
He further, encouraged all parents not to abandon their physically challenged wards rather, send them to school for “disability is not inability”. He quoted.
