Abuakwa South: MCE Eulogieses Government; Hints More Projects In The Offing

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Abuakwa South Municipal Assembly in the Eastern Region of Ghana, Honourable Akosua Asabea Annoh, has showered praises to the Nana Akufo-Addo led New Patriotic Party administration’s achievements in her enclave and describes it as unprecedented.

Speaking to newsmen during the Third Ordinary Meeting Of The Second Session Of The Eighth Assembly Held On 22nd December, 2021, at the Municipal Assembly Hall chaired by the Presiding Member, Honourable Benard Kwabena Amoako-Atta who doubles as the Assembly Member for Akyem Asafo Electoral Area, said, under the Nana Akufo-Addo’s Government, Driver And Vehicle Licencing Authority (DVLA) through the Assembly and the Traditional Council, have secured an office which is being renovated pending operations January 2021. This she said, is going to reduce the risks and burden of drivers moving from the enclave to Koforidua, Nkawkaw and Oda to access DVLA service.

She added that, that nearby communities will also have easy access to the DVLA Office in Kyebi.

Honourable Akosua Asabea Annoh, continued that, discussions are far advanced together with the Traditional Council, to have Lands Commission’s office and 21st Century (STEM) School established in the Municipality.

The Honourable Municipal Chief Executive further hinted that, land has been secured at Kyebi for the Ghana Immigration Service and Ghana National Fire Service to establish permanent offices and comprehensive training schools.

Honourable Akosua Asabea Annoh emphasized that, the Assembly will not relent its efforts to ensure that all other state agencies, whose services are essential to the people are encouraged to establish offices in the Abuakwa South enclave.

Speaking on road deficit, Honourable Akosua Asabea Annoh explained that, the Assembly is expecting in 2022, bituminous surfacing of 7.0km Asiakwa Township Roads, 4.0km Amanfrom Tow roads, 4.0km (Phase Two) Asafo Akyem Town Road and additional 5.8km Addonkwanta-Maase, 2.0km Payase-Maase, 8.0km Nkronso-Laterm-Addonkwanta and 6.0km Adotowa No.1-Adarkwa roads projects listed under COCOBOD.

She further explained that, the Assembly is expecting that, the constractural challenges pertaining the Nkronso Town Roads would be expedited to ensure its commencement during the year 2022.

The Honourable MCE was however glad to mention that the Assembly has recently completed the reshaping of Odumase-Kwasikomfo and Abrepro Roads to ease transport problems. The construction of Owuratwum road which is 2.8km in total she said, is under serious consideration.

Touching on security, the Honourable Municipal Chief Executive said, the Municipality remains calm, owing largely to the efforts of the security agencies and the clampdown on illegal mining.

She further thanked the Assembly Members, Assembly staff, the traditional council, stakeholders, opinion leader and all for the support and cooperation meted to her and anticipates that 2022 would be better with their usual cooperation.

She concluded by admonishing all to celebrate the festive season in moderation, called on drivers to drive with caution to avoid road carnages especially in this harmattan season, she also advised celebrants to leave at least one person behind at home when going for an event for security reasons and abide by the COVID 19 safety protocols.
