Hon Gifty Twum-Ampofo Engages Constituents; Explains Happenings In Parliament

The Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North Constituency also the Deputy Minister of Education incharge of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), Honourable Gifty Twum-Ampofo, popularly called Hajia Kande has ended the phase two(2) of the three(3) scheduled Christmas town hall meetings to brief her constituents on the current happenings in parliament today Monday 27th December, 2021.

Communities visited included, Obodase, Ogua, Agortime, Bediasi 1, Sokode Juaso, Bediasi 2, Baafuor Nkwanta, Nana Korkor Da(Kukurantumi), Presby(Kukurantumi), Methodist (Kukurantumi), Only Believe Primary (Kukurantumi), Roman (Kukurantumi), M/A Basic School (Kukurantumi) and MP Area(Kukurantumi).

According to the lawmaker, her engagement with the communities was necessitated by the recent parliamentary “impass” concerning the passage of the E-Levy bill which has sent wrong signals to the populace and has the potentials of denting the image of parliamentarians.

Explaining the near braw to the constituents, the Honourable Member said, it was as a result of the split in numbers in parliament that has made it difficult for government businesses to be executed in the house.

“All political parties want the best for the party, but NPP wants the best for the party and Ghana as a whole. The NDC upon seeing the positive future prospects of the E-Levy bill laid before parliament on the Ghanaian economy decided to fight it right, left, center, back and front because, Ghanaians will reap the benefits and hail the NPP which means their anticipations 2024 general election may be thwarted.” Hon Gifty Twum-Ampofo stated.

She admonished the masses to avoid “skirt and blouse” voting style that seeks to vote for the incumbent president but against the sitting member of parliament the reason of the aforementioned Parliamentary disturbances that has seen the halt in the passage of the E-Levy and Student’s Loan which requires only Ghana card for guarantee bills.

Honourable Gifty Twum-Ampofo further advised the constituents to go for the COVID 19 jab, as said it’s safe and efficient to curb the spread of the pandemic.

Hajia Kande afterwards presented packs of food souvenirs to the people as her Christmas gift.

She said, she is expecting to reach twenty-two thousand (22000) constituents by the end of the tour.

On the 24th of December,2021, Honourable Gifty Twum-Ampofo as part of the tour visited
Abremponsu, Anweabeng, Nobi, Ettukrom, Fisher, Aboabo and Anyinasin communities for same purpose as phase one.

The Member of Parliament was accompanied by, a section of the Constituency Executives, party faithfuls and the press.
