E/R: Man 22 Years Jailed 10 Years For Attempted Robbery

Charles Appiah, a 22 year old welder has been sentenced to ten (10) years imprisonment with hard labour for attempting to rob Dorcas Boateng, A 17 year Old final year student of Only Believe Senior High School on the 10th of February, 2022, by the Kibi Circuit Court presided over by his H/H Mr Peter Oppong Boahen.


On 5th of February 2022 at about 9:50pm, complainant Solomon Boateng age 48yrs and his 17yr old daughter Dorcas Boateng arrested and sent to Kukurantumi police station suspect Charles Appiah age 22yrs and the former reported that, at about 2130hrs of the said date, his daughter who is a final year student of Only Believe S.H.S in Kukurantumi went out from her hostel to buy water from a drinking spot behind the hostel.

On her way, the said suspect attacked her from behind, applied powdered pepper on her eyes and struggled with her to snatch her iphone 7plus valued GH¢1,800.00. That, during the struggle, the suspect bit the victim and she shouted for help and people came to her rescue. The people arrested the said suspect and handed him over to the complainant who brought him to Kukurantumi Police station and lodged a formal complaint against the suspect.

After investigations, the accused was charged with the offence of attempting to commit robbery, contrary to sections 18(1) and 149 of Act 29/60. On 08-02-2022, accused Charles Appiah, was arraigned before the Kibi Circuit Court.
He pleaded guilty and was convicted on his own plea. However, his sentence was deferred and the accused person was remanded into police custody to re-appear on Thursday 10-02-2022. Hence his 10 years imprisonment with hard labour.
