Honourable Alhaji Umar Babs Bodinga, the Municipal Chief Executive of Abuakwa North Municipal Assembly, has showered praises on Dr Samuel Owusu, a philanthropist, after donating a three (3) unit classroom block with ancillary facilities to Akyem Anyinasin Methodist Junior High School in the Eastern Region of Ghana on the 25th March, 2022 and said his kind gesture is worth emulating by all .
Honourable Alhaji Umar Babs Bodinga in his submission mentioned that, the intervention by the philanthropist will go a long way to improve the educational foundation, social life and career prospects of the children.
The Honourable Municipal Chief Executive added with utmost pride that, both female and male categories of an award he instituted for brilliant but needy students during the 6th March, 2022 Celebrations was picked up by students from Anyinasin.
“Mr Chairman, permit me this moment also to say with pride that, I instituted an award this year during the sixth March Celebrations for brilliant but needy students in the Municipality and I’m glad to say that, both female and male categories, the slots fell on two students from this Community”. Hon Alhaji Umar Babs Bodinga stated.
He therefore, admonished, the young ones to strive for the best to ensure that they benefit from the annual award which has now come to stay.
Hon Alhaji Umar Babs Bodinga implored the teachers to adopt with the pupils the best maintenance culture for the building to last long.
Osabarima Attah Appiah Korang on his part also thanked the doctor and philanthropist for such a great gesture meted the community and called on all well meaning netizens to emulate the gesture for socio-economic development of the community and the country as a whole.
The astute Chief added that, traditional culture, customs and practices should be prioritized by all, to expedite development and shun the use of foreign cultures, a situation he said has hindered growth and development of our various communities for a long time.
He therefore, advised the teachers to stop punishing pupils who use the L1(Ghanaian Language) in school.z
Dr Samuel Owusu during the presentation emphasized that, the plight of the Ghanaian school child should be a factor to be considered as conducive learning atmosphere is key to maximum output academically for socio-economic development of the country hence his motivation.
Dr Samuel Owusu acknowledged that, the facility was not built single handedly but with the maximum support and cooperation from the Anyinasin Community and added that, the gesture is a way of giving back to the society that made him and his family and urged others in the diaspora to emulate to foster development in their respective communities.
The ultramodern facility is fitted with state of the arts washrooms for both sexes, drinking room, computer library, well furnished classrooms with white marker boards, well furnished headmaster’s office, staff common room and a waiting room.
The short colourful ceremony saw the presence of Mr John Ankrah, Municipal Coordinating Director, Madam Abena Gyamerah, Municipal Education Director, Mrs. Gifty Edith Opoku, Eastern Regional Manager of Methodist Education Unit, the Clergy, Alhaji Seidu Ibrahim, Regional NABCO Director, Mr Stephen Osei-Wusu, Municipal NADMO Director, the general public and the press.
