Prez. Akuffo-Addo Commends Afenyo-Markin For Constructing 13 Libraries For the Ghana Library Authority
The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has praised the Deputy Majority of Parliament, Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, for singlehandedly constructing and handing over 13 libraries to the Ghana Library Authority.
At a ceremony to unveil the 110th library built by the Rebecca Foundation at Frafraha, in the Adentan Municipality, His Excellency Nana Akufo-Addo praised the Honourable Member for Effutu, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, for constructing, furnishing and handing over 13 library facilities to the Ghana Library Authority.
“I must commend too, the Deputy Majority Leader in Parliament and the Member of Parliament for Effutu Constituency, the Honourable Alexander Afenyo-Markin who has constructed, furnished and handed over 13 library facilities to the Ghana Library Authority” he stated.
The President had earlier commended the First Lady, Rebecca Akufo-Addo and her Rebecca Foundation for building over 10 library facilities and handed them over to the Ghana Library Authority.
“I cannot talk about the progress of the Ghana library space without recognizing the significant contributions of the First Lady, my beloved spouse, Rebecca, who, through the Rebecca Foundation, has built and handed over 10 library facilities to the Ghana Library Authority, with 6 more in the pipeline”
By 2017, Ghana could boast of only 61 libraries across the entire country. 49 have since been added to them, making 110 so far with some facilities still under construction. The 49 libraries include some of those constructed by the Rebecca Foundation and Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin.
The unveiling of the Frafraha Library project by His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo occurred on Thursday, June 16, 2022.
