Davido is bringing his latest album, ORIADÉ, home to Lagos with a three night residency at the National Theatre from December 17 to 19. The event will mark 15 years of his music career and is expected to form part of the busy December entertainment season in Lagos.

But the bigger story is not simply that another major artist is performing in Lagos.

It is what happens when entertainment becomes an economic engine.

A major concert can create demand for much more than tickets. Hotels can gain customers. Restaurants can see more traffic. Transportation businesses can benefit from increased movement. Event vendors, security companies, photographers, fashion businesses and content creators can all find opportunities around one event.

The challenge is turning that attention into lasting value.

Many entertainment businesses are good at attracting an audience but less prepared to manage what happens after the audience arrives. Customer information may not be properly captured.

Leads can disappear after an event. Potential buyers may receive no follow up. Brand partnerships may be handled manually. An audience that took months to build can become just a crowd that came and left.

That is a missed opportunity.

Every event creates information. Who attended? What did they buy? What did they ask about? Which products attracted the most interest? Which customers are likely to return? What partnerships generated results? Businesses that capture and use this information can turn one successful event into a longer customer relationship.

This is where proper sales systems matter. Instead of treating every event as a one off opportunity, entertainment businesses can build processes for capturing leads, managing enquiries, following up with customers and converting interest into future sales.

Tools such as Auxi Sherpa’s Sales Automation can help businesses organize customer enquiries, manage leads and follow ups, and create a more structured sales process.

Davido’s residency also points to a larger opportunity for Nigeria. Global attention can be brought home, but the real value comes when that attention creates opportunities for the wider ecosystem around it.

The music may bring people through the door. The businesses around the experience need systems that can keep the value moving after the music stops.
