Google has signed agreements with Constellation Energy covering 3,590 megawatts of electricity in the United States. Part of the deal involves nuclear power, including 890 megawatts from upgraded nuclear plants under a 20 year agreement.

The agreement is expected to support more than $4.3 billion in new investment by Constellation. The first electricity from the upgraded nuclear facilities is expected to become available in 2028.

The bigger story is the amount of electricity technology companies now need. Artificial intelligence requires large data centres filled with powerful computers, and those computers need electricity to operate.

As technology companies build more AI services, the demand for data centre capacity is increasing.

This means electricity is becoming an important part of technology business planning rather than simply an operating expense.

The lesson is useful for smaller businesses too. Growth requires capacity.

A business cannot simply attract more customers without making sure its people, technology and processes can handle the additional demand.

A company may gain hundreds of new customers but struggle to answer their questions. Another business may generate more sales but have no system for following up with customers. A growing company can even lose money because its internal processes cannot keep up with its expansion.

This is why businesses should build systems alongside growth. Automation can handle repetitive work, websites can make customer interactions easier, and digital tools can organize leads, enquiries and follow ups.

Auxi Sherpa helps businesses build these kinds of systems through automation, websites, sales support and other business operations services. The objective is to help businesses create the capacity needed to manage growth without putting everything on the owner.

Google’s agreement shows how seriously major technology companies are preparing for the resources required by the next stage of AI. For businesses of every size, the lesson is simple: growth works best when the systems supporting that growth are ready.
