Funke Akindele’s upcoming movie The Four: No One Fights Alone has received a fresh music release as Waje and Shoday team up for “My Sunshine,” an official soundtrack from the film. The song arrived on streaming platforms this week with a colourful music video.

The song is more than just music added to a movie. Waje and Shoday play a mother and son in The Four, with their relationship forming an important part of the story.

The song brings that relationship into the music, focusing on love, sacrifice and the bond between a mother and her child.

The Four is directed and produced by Funke Akindele and features a large cast that includes Bisola Aiyeola, Chioma Akpotha, Richard Mofe Damijo, Timini Egbuson, Lateef Adedimeji, Ali Nuhu and Wunmi Toriola. The film follows four women whose friendship and determination are tested as they fight to protect the future of someone they love.

For Nigerian movie fans, the soundtrack is also part of the excitement before a major cinema release.

Music can introduce audiences to a film before they ever sit down to watch it. A song can create an emotional connection with the characters and give people another reason to talk about the movie.

Funke Akindele has also been building anticipation around The Four through its music. “My Sunshine” follows “Ore Mi,” another song connected to the film and performed by Funke Akindele, Waje, Bisola Aiyeola and Chioma Akpotha.

The movie is scheduled to arrive in Nigerian cinemas on December 11, 2026.

With its combination of familiar Nollywood faces, music and a story centered on friendship and motherhood, The Four is already giving audiences several things to talk about before its cinema debut.

The release of “My Sunshine” shows how closely music and movies can work together. For Nigerian filmmakers, a soundtrack can become part of the identity of a film and help its story travel beyond the cinema.
