A crowd broke through police lines and entered the United States Capitol while a joint session of Congress was certifying the electoral college result, forcing lawmakers to evacuate the chamber.
Several people died in connection with the events and more than 140 police officers were injured. Certification resumed the same night and was completed in the early hours.
The attack led to a second impeachment of President Donald Trump, a congressional inquiry, and hundreds of federal prosecutions in the years that followed.
