Wave set cephus: Early Life and Name

Wave was born during Cardi B and Offset's marriage. His parents announced his arrival publicly, but they did not immediately disclose his name. They later introduced him as Wave Set Cephus in April 2022, alongside photographs that gave fans a clearer look at their son.

Cephus is his father's surname. Offset's full name is Kiari Kendrell Cephus, while Cardi B is professionally known by the stage name she established before becoming an international recording star.

The timing of the name announcement meant that Wave was already several months old when the wider public learned what his parents had called him. That distinction is useful in understanding his early public profile: the announcement of his birth and the introduction of his name happened separately.

Parents and Family Background

Cardi B and Offset married in 2017. Their relationship brought together two artists with substantial audiences, making their family life a subject of interest beyond their music. Wave was their second child together, following their daughter Kulture Kiari Cephus, who was born in 2018.

Wave also has a younger sister born to Cardi B and Offset in 2024. Through his father, he has older half-siblings from previous relationships. He is therefore part of a larger blended family, rather than simply one of two children in a household.

Cardi B became a major recording artist with songs including Bodak Yellow and her debut studio album, Invasion of Privacy. Released in 2018, the album won the Grammy Award for best rap album in 2019.

Offset rose to prominence as a member of Migos, the Atlanta-area rap group whose other members were Quavo and Takeoff. He also developed a solo recording career. These separate musical backgrounds explain the considerable attention surrounding their children, without making the children performers themselves.

Public Appearances and Childhood

Wave's public visibility has largely come through material shared by his parents, including family photographs and birthday celebrations. He also appeared with family members in an Essence magazine feature in 2022, when Cardi B and Offset discussed their family life.

Such appearances offer only a partial view of his upbringing. They do not establish a complete account of his daily routine, education or private relationships. Those areas should not be filled in with assumptions based on his parents' fame.

His place in a well-known family also means that photographs of him can attract attention independently of anything he has chosen to do. For a child, public recognition and an independent public role are not the same thing.

Career and Public Identity

Wave has no established career to document. There is no basis for describing him as a musician, entrepreneur or professional entertainer simply because both of his parents work in music.

For now, the clearest account of Wave is a family biography: a child born into a prominent musical family whose parents have shared selected milestones with their audiences. His interests and any future professional direction remain his own to develop.
