Social media has turned people who know how to entertain into household names, and few illustrate that better than Shank Comics and Taylor Jasmine. One built his name through Nigerian comedy and livestreaming, the other through Atlanta music and online content, and both have been in the spotlight this year. I went through the public record to separate what is verified from what is merely repeated online, and here are ten facts worth knowing.

The Man Behind the Stage Name Shank Comics
His real name is not Shank. The Nigerian entertainer is known as Shank Comics, but public profiles give his real name as Adesokan Adedeji Emmanuel. He was born on 23 March 1997 in Iwere-Ile, Oyo State, grew up in Olambe, Ogun State, and is known for his Lit Gang catchphrase.
He studied engineering. Shank attended Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife, where he studied electrical engineering. Profiles say he began creating content in 2017 while still a student. In Nigeria, where families often push children toward engineering, medicine or law, I find that detail more telling than it looks: the degree and the comedy career were never opposites.

From Skits to Streamer University
He did not set out to be a full time entertainer. Profiles describe a gradual path from social media influencing into comedy skits, then YouTube, then livestreaming, rather than one dramatic leap.
His career keeps changing shape. He is now described as an actor, comedian, online streamer and media influencer. In March 2026 he won Best Streamer at the SiGMA Africa Awards in Cape Town, South Africa, which tells me the streaming side of his work is no longer a side project.
He won $10,000 at Streamer University. In May 2025, at Kai Cenat’s three day Streamer University bootcamp in Akron, Shank won $10,000 sponsored by MrBeast. The winner was chosen at random, with the prize revealed by a sticky note under his chair, and the clip travelled fast among Nigerian fans. Reports say his Twitch following jumped sharply afterwards, but I would treat the exact numbers with caution.
What Shank Comics and Taylor Jasmine share is a habit of reinventing themselves in public, and that is clearest when we look at her side of the story.
Taylor Jasmine Before the Cameras
She has an entertainment career of her own. Taylor Jasmine Ahmed, also known as Cravetay, is an American singer, songwriter and digital creator. She was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on 14 March 2000.
She has a music background. Reports say she was part of an Atlanta girl group in 2013 before going solo. Her debut mixtape, It’s My Fault, followed around 2015, and her album Emotionally Fly was released on 8 October 2020, sharing its name with a fashion line she announced that year.
She appeared on a television music competition. In 2017 she was on Lifetime’s The Pop Game, where five teenagers competed for a place on Timbaland’s label, Mosley Music. She has said she faced online backlash afterwards that she believes was shaped by the show’s producers. That is her own account, but it reminds me how early internet fame can arrive before a person is ready for it.
Taylor Jasmine in Lagos
She is also a livestreamer. Beyond music, she has built an online presence through Twitch and digital entertainment. One report says she also took part in Streamer University in 2026, though I could not confirm that independently.
Her Nigerian visit drew wide attention. Reports say she arrived in Lagos on 25 September 2026 and was welcomed at the airport by Nigerian creator Carter Efe. Videos from the trip circulated across social media, and the two later released a joint song, Met You, in October. Followers debated whether they are a couple, and I could not find a clear statement from either of them in the reports I read, so I will not guess.
One caution before the big question. I found no report of Shank Comics and Taylor Jasmine working together, so this list is about two parallel stories, not a partnership.
The Big Question
So what makes people like Shank Comics and Taylor Jasmine so fascinating? Is it talent, personality, relationships or the moments they create in front of millions of viewers? In my view it is all of those, but consistency matters most. Both have changed formats more than once, and both keep showing up.
Tell us what you think in the comments. The stories of Shank Comics and Taylor Jasmine show that fame online is rarely an accident, and rarely a straight line.
